At the January 2019 Regents meeting, the Regents voted to increase formal student participation at their meetings and asked the Secretary and Chief of Staff to amend the Guidelines for the Student Advocates to the Regents (StAR) program and the Student Observer Program to increase student participation.
Student Advocates to the Regents (StARs) are funded to travel to the Regents meetings to provide public comment on pressing student issues. StARs are allowed ‘backstage’ privileges to speak with the Regents informally and engage in student advocacy.
Students shall be respectful of the Regents at meetings, including the need for confidential conversations between Regents and staff. Student Affairs staff shall be the primary point of contact with the University of California Student Association (UCSA), the UC Graduate and Professional Coalition (UCGPC), StARs, and Student Observers during the meetings. UCGPC will reimburse the cost of travel for StARs.

Travel logistics:
StARs will be reimbursed for incurred travel expenses subject to caps. Email us at info@ucgpc.org to learn more. *Stays beyond the meeting dates will not be reimbursed.
Requirements:
You must be a UC student and available to attend all meeting days. *The selected candidate must also attend the UCGPC board meeting before that month’s UC Board of Regents Meeting.
